Hi Mirko,

One thing to remember: the obj mesh writer only supports polygonal meshes at this time. I suspect you created a simple Cone, which is stored as a conic and hence nothing will be written to the obj file.

Kind regards,

Bart

Hi Mirko,

Actually it should work the way you did it. here is a little example:

Create->Polygon->PolyCylinder
Create->MeshWriter->OBJMeshWriter

then on the property box there should be a property called \"Input Mesh\" you click it and connect it to:

Connect to...->PolyCylinder->OutputMesh

and then just choose a filename. Once you do that you should have your obj correctly. I runned the example and worked ok I hope it works for you :-) sorry I can’t help on the VS thing cuz I have no idea hehe but anything else just let me know

Bests,
Carlos

This message was originally posted by Mirko Matytschak on 04/03/2009 03:14:31

Hi all,

I have found, that there is a MeshWriter for the .obj format. Unfortunately I don’t know, how to make it work.

Let’s say, I have a simple document with a single Cone object.

I found, that I can create an ObjMeshWriter object. I created one, connected it to the Cone instance and supplied a file name. I got an empty .obj file as result. Now, what exactly do I have to do, to make the Cone appear in the .obj file?

Cheers
Mirko
