Hi.

I use openSuse x86_32 on my main machine and as I did not find any binary for my distro (I did not try fedora or mandriva BTW) I decided to compile it myself from svn. However, after a lot of trial and error and fixing a big dependency hellI only have one dependency error but I do not which library is missing.. This is the output result:

Try deleting the modules/imagemagick_io dir in your build directory, and then run \"ccmake .\" in your build dir, configure (making sure K3D_BUILD_IMAGEMAGICK_IO_MODULE is still off) and generate. The modules/imagemagick_io dir should still be gone after that, and if it is it should build fine.

Yes!... That made it work. and I’m running it now only with a few issues from tutorials.
The first tutorial went just fine all the way.

I could import it using the mesh SVG. But it seems I cannot do anything to it, (most probabily because of my inexperience and lack of knowledge to the app).

I can move it I can select it but I still don’t know how to raise a wall from a 2d object to a 3d one. I’ve watched the tutorials and all of them start with a 3d figure (maybe I missed a different one) and none start frm a single 2d rectangle or cube or circle, which I believe is the one I need to start working with this app.

One the other hand and going back to my first post, DXF files are the most used by every CAD software and I strongly believe that if you guys create a import filter or a DXF mesh, I’ll grant you a full succes for the app. I will be the first one to go all over the forums I visit (around 12) to populate it :=D.

Sorry to go back and forth ... but I’m really excited with this app :). I will create just a small rectangle with QCAD and will export it to SVG this rectangle will be something like 10 units long and 2 units wide. The rectangle will have all ends closed. After doing this and reading a little bit more in the wikkies and manuals ... I’ll bring back my comments.

I went back to my winxp box and tryed to import one more time another SVG drawing and k3d broke (shutdown unexpectedly).

Now, I finally got to install k3d in my opensuse box and everything went fine BTW. The only problem is that when I import/create a new SVG mesh... I can only see a line.
This is what I’m doing:

1.- Open a new empty document
2.- Menu Create>MeshReader >SVGMeshReader
3.- Select the file brower with relative value
4.- The result is a horizontal line with dots or nodes (who knows).

Any ideas?

Just one more thing, did you check the scale of your drawing? it is probable that you only see a line because it’s too big, try scaling it down to see if that’s the problem, anyway you can send me the file to see what made it crash before

I repeat this was the output of a \"k3d\" file saved on windows and opened with linux.

The output if I open(immport with the SVGMeshReader option is very similar except for some more errors... I’ll post later the output.

Without your help I’d probably be trying another Â·3D app... I would’ve never imagined that a single straight line could be (in this case) treated as a NURB spline. But I also never thought about this tool either (NurbsExtrudeCurve). And also thanks for reminding me the word \"extrude\", I did’n even remember it in Spanish.. LOL.

Ok. But not everything are \"roses in spring\". I really need to get rid of VBox and all windows things.. So I need this application to work in Linux the same way as it’s been working on Windows.....

The resulting wireframe actually consists of NURBS curves. You can extrude these using the following method:
- Make sure the wireframe is selected (white)
- Go to \"Select Lines\" mode
- Select ONE curve you want to extrude
- Apply the NurbsExtrudeCurve modifier from the right-click menu

Repeat for all curves you want to extrude.

OK, you can give more feedback by either running:
ctest -V -R SVG (this outputs to your console only)
or, for automated publishing to the dashboard (preferred method) at http://www.k-3d.org/cdash you can run:
ctest -D Experimental -R SVG

Both of these only run the SVG test and give us an explanation on why it fails.

P.S. About the NURBS tools: these are the work of GSoC student Carsten Haubold, see http://www.k-3d.org/wiki/User:Caste/Nurbs_Overview for an overview. Let us know if you need anything else, user feedback is always very valuable!

Well, If you’re confused.. guess about me :=) ... but there is one thing that’s been annoying me ever since the first compilation and it is the Pango warning... My Distro is openSuse 11 GNOME... I have 32 and x86_64 (on different machines off course) and both of them have the same result. However, the other day I saw a SDL pango library (dev package) which is not installed on both machines. I do not know if this is necessary but I’ll install it and will bring back my results. The only possible damage might be a new recompilation (which is not), and that will not hurt me at all :=D
