Hello,
How can i make a Refractive index, reflections from objects, and put textures of a object?
i have the version 0.8.0.1

The short answer is "yes", but it requires some understanding of the render engine. For refraction and reflection you probably ought to focus on LuxRender, as it makes these easier than most RenderMan engines.

OK, thankst.
But I have tried the LuxRender, but nothing has happened!
What have I to press?Posted 1 year ago # -
I'm in the process of working on some LuxRender specific documentation (which others have asked about), I'll post a link when it's ready.
Cheers,

OK, thanks

The existence of materials with a negative refractive index was first predicted by the Russian physicist Victor Veselago in 1967. He speculated that materials in which the electric permittivity and the magnetic permeability are both less than zero would refract light in the opposite direction compared to conventional materials. The electric permittivity is the ability of a material to store electrical charge and the magnetic permeability is the ability of a material to acquire magnetisation in magnetic fields.

I mean exactly:
How can i juse LuxRender at 1-k-3d 0.8.0.1?
When i go to LuxRender, and i do something, nothing happens!
:( :CPosted 1 year ago # -
aswered now, please

Hi Jake,
Sorry for the late reply, I've been distracted from K-3D lately. To get something out of the LuxRender engine, you need to create a render engine, add a Lux light and assign Lux materials to the objects you want to see rendered. I have uploaded a sample file at
http://k3d-bart.googlecode.com/files/luxtest.k3d
If you quickrender (choosing LuxRenderEngine) this file with the luxrender command in your path, it should render.
Kind regards,
Bart

Your documentary work for me, but if I use the LuxRender camera, then the computer does not respond!
Does it not work, because i have a Graphiccard, this not Nvidia does support?
Or make I somethink wrong?Posted 1 year ago # -
Is there anything in the error log? Also, what version of LuxRender are you using, and on what platform (windows or linux)?
Posted 1 year ago # -
I have Windows, but my Graphicscard doesn't support Nvidia.
I don't now what version of LuxRender I have.
Where is written it?Posted 1 year ago # -
I think you may need to download LuxRender from http://www.luxrender.net/v/dl_windows
I tested with LuxRender 0.7 and K-3D 0.8.0.1 on windows, and the example file I uploaded rendered using LuxRender.
When installing LuxRender, be sure that it is added to the system path.
You don't need an nvidia card for either K-3D or LuxRender.

OK, thanks,
but happends with other Graphicsprogramms nothing?Posted 1 year ago # -

This Wiki don't help further!
Where is this "Roadmap", "Primitive Geometric Design", "Generic Geometry Selection", "Hint mapping ", "user interface testing" or "refactoring viewport"?Posted 1 year ago # -
"and create new texture-mapping tools." planed for K-3D 0.9, just like it says!

The shadow of a transparent Object is complete black
what I doing wrong?Posted 1 year ago # -
You are not explaining what you did, that makes it hard to know what your problem is. At a guess I'd say you have a single light source and therefore there is no other light to "fill in" the shadows. I assume you are still using Lux? Try a scene with a sun and sky.

I have make a skylight and a sunlight, i have also make it in a room, but the shadow of a transparent Object is in a single color, grey/black.
And how can i put in textures of a object?Posted 1 year ago # -
Texture mapping tools are not ready yet, next version.

Next version of 1-k-3d?
Or can i download new tools?Posted 1 year ago # -
Unless you want to build (compile from source code) the development versions from the repository you have to wait for the next packaged release. If you have never done any software building before I would not recommend it as K-3D is a complex project and you are better off learning the basics first, but if you insist the instructions are on the wiki.

Can i put in textures?

Can i round off object without that, the point score must be increased? (at LuxRender Engine)
