Rendering Confusion

This message was originally posted by Nobody/Anonymous on 07/22/2006 01:32:08
Hey,
I dunoo, I must be missing some major link between K3D and Aqsis or Yafray. I am just not getting anything to render. Not even the example vase that comes with Aqsis renders.
Could someone who’s got this process down run me thru every step of the way, from installation to setup in K3D to final rendered image.
Thanks

Tim,
Ok, Thanks. I’ll look around, and see what I can find, but I have to warn you my scripting skills were never great, and they have gotten worse since I started doing full time programming in Java. But I’ll look around and see. Knowing my luck I probably installed something wrong on my computer when I first installed Fedora back in April.
Thanks Gary

Rendering Confusion

The main thing to keep in mind is that K-3D runs render engines as if a user had run them from the command-line. As an example, if you can enter
$ aqsis /path/to/vase.rib
at the command-line and get a result, K-3D should work. If that doesn’t work, something is wrong with your Aqsis (or Pixie, or Yafray) installation.
The most likely problem would be that your PATH environment variable doesn’t point to the render engine binaries.
Cheers,
Tim
