i tried to use the merge mesh modifier and the weld functions as instructed but they dont seem to work, im thinking its an error on my behalf though.
i tried to use it by selecting both objects i wanted to join, then i used the merge mesh function, at this point the objects were de-selected for some reason, so i reselected them and used the weld function and it did not work.
Am I doing this correctly?

MergeMesh is a little more complex than most modifiers, since it takes multiple inputs. You have to:
* Use Create > Mesh > MergeMesh
* Manually connect the MergeMesh input properties \"Input mesh 1\" and \"Input mesh 2\" to the output properties of the objects you want to merge.
* Manually hide the inputs, so they don’t obscure the MergeMesh output.
Cheers,
Tim

I tried http://www.k-3d.org/wiki/Texture_Tutorial and actually have no idea how to do it. I use Blender, C4D and LW but have no idea what is going on in that tut, actualyy:0 Simply doesnt compare to anything I know. Some suggestions how to put a texture [or even an uniform color] on an object would be extremely useful. I tried rendering to Aqsis. I also tried YafRay, but it says theres no YafRay in my system despite 0.8 is there from months and works OK with Blender:0

PS. I also tried the color tut at wiki. I managed to chenge the color of the default material. But then the tut says \"choose New RenderMan Material in the Surface Material property\" but I see no such property in the node propoerties panel.

\"In the Node Properties Panel, choose \"-- New RenderMan Material\" in the \"Surface Material\" property dropdown.\"
OK, but there is no such dropdown, at least in 0.6.6. Any ideas how to do things in 0.6.6?

You must not be looking in the correct place, see
http://www.k-3d.org/wiki/Surface_Color_Tutorial
- which includes screenshots.
