help with NUpatch import

This message was originally posted by Anthony Danalis on 05/01/2007 10:33:31
Hello everybody, I just discovered K-3d and I like it a lot.
I was trying to import an object (wine glass) I made in ayam by revolving a NURBS curve.
In ayam I exported the NURBS patch as to .OBJ
K-3D managed to import the object, but instead of a mesh or a set a NURBS, I see a set of points and I can’t seem to render it either. Is there some way to turn it into a mesh, or otherwise make it editable and renderable?
thanks,
Anthony

Use the bug tracker and add an attachment to your post:
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?atid=111113&group_id=11113&func=browse
you will need to create a smaller example with sketchup, 1.9Mb is far too large.

Tim

The current OBJ reader doesn’t support NURBS, if you attach a sample file to a bug report we can look into implementing it.
Cheers,
Tim

I found how to make my patch a mesh in ayam before exporting it so that I can import it in k3d (it’s called tesselation), but I submitted a bug report with a simple NURBS patch anyway, in case it helps people implement that feature.
thanks,
Anthony
