Is Win Vista 64bit supported?

Yes, that’s me again, I am sorry! ;)
May I ask you please whether K-3D has been tested on Windows Vista 64bit?
I have bought new PC with Windows Vista 64bit, and when I run K-3D (.7.3) I got empty viewport. :[
(The graphic adapter is nVidia GeForce 9600 GT, which claims to have full OpenGL-support.)

Hi again!
As far as i know this problem has been reported, but no solution by now. Bart may tell you more details on the subject. I think he was the one who found it.
What did happen with your rendering problem?
Did you try uninstalling K-3D and reinstalling? Also you may rename temporarily the .k3d configuration folder to test a fresh install.
Cheers!
Joaquín

Nothing new so far. The render malfunction is happening on the PC in my job. I will pospone further reinstall attempts for some time, maybe some crash-logging version will be released; then it would be good to inspect the issue... I don’t intend to play with K-3D at work too much so it doesn’t bother me to wait couple of weeks.
So, the only working K-3D I have right now is the one on the old pile of rust with Win2k which is about to be replaced by the new HW with Vista 64bit.
On this new HW I have also tried to install .6.7 with the same result - no viewport.
As someone reported earlier when I launch tutorial the viewport somehow responds to the script, but it is obvious that it is pretty slow. }After the tutorial ends nothing is fixed, which is in contrast with what the reporter experienced.)

I’ve just finished that on the Vista, with no change. :[

I meant it for the other problem.
:(
Did you try changing the viewport panel to other panel and back (probably won’t work)
Other option, just a workaround, is installing a virtual machine like VirtualBox and you can install Linux or other windows flavor inside.

I have tested K-3D on a virtualbox and works ok. Probably your computer is much better than mine.
Other option is running Linux natively and a windows inside a VirtualBox.
Cheers!
Joaquín.

OK, here the postpone-because-of-work reply applies. :)

Well, something like that will probably happen at last... Thank you for hint.

This helps:
k3d.exe shortuct properties -> Compatibility -> Disable desktop composition
(Credits go to guy with nick wojta!)

(I do apologize for skipping this in my previous comment.) Yes, this was the first thing I did, after searching this forum, it didn’t help.

Hi Yaroukh,
Thank you very, very much for sharing this. The latest release now includes a fix that automatically disables Desktop Composition when K-3D is started. Are you still seeing your rendering crash on Vista?
Cheers,
Bart

you’re welcome, I can’t wait to see K-3D finished! kidding ;))
I just passed the hint I got elsewhere
no more rendering crashes (also axes are shifted no more, great!)
