Transparency

Hi,
I’m new to k-3d. I’m using it for a project where we want to display some simple polygonal facets, with flat colors and different transparency levels. Can someone tell me how to do transparency (alpha-blending) using either .obj files or .off files in k-3d?
Thanks!
Angela

K-3D provides powerful control over visual attributes including transparency, but there are some caveats:
* We don’t preview transparency in the OpenGL viewports. Unfortunately, rendering transparency correctly with OpenGL is very difficult to do correctly, even with advanced hardware and multipass algorithms, so we’ve never bothered to do it - volunteers welcome ;) Of course, transparency is rendered correctly in final output (RenderMan / Yafray).
* Our current obj-import capability doesn’t support material files, so there would be some level of effort to get materials with transparency into a K-3D document.
* I’m not familiar with the .off file format, so I can’t comment there.
Cheers,
Tim
