Viewports and Cameras

A Viewport is a rectangular region of the screen. Every Viewport has an assigned Camera. The Camera provides the location and orientation of the "View" displayed by the Viewport. When two Viewports share the same Camera, changes to the camera in one Viewport are mirrored in the other.

If you explicitly mount a Viewport in a panel using the Panel Type dropdown list, there is a popup dialog that prompts you to select an existing Camera or create a new one for the Viewport.

If you split an existing Viewport Panel, it just duplicates it, without prompting you for a new Camera. At first glance, we should probably prompt you in this case, too.

If you want to change a Viewport's Camera after the fact, use the Viewport Context Menu > Set Camera.
